STIHL, founded in 1926 by German engineer Andreas Stihl, began as a small company focused on innovative chainsaws and has since grown into a global leader in garden and forestry equipment. The company’s first electric chainsaw revolutionized wood cutting, and by 1929, STIHL had introduced its first gasoline-powered chainsaw, which quickly became a favourite among forestry professionals. This early commitment to innovation and quality set the foundation for STIHL’s long-standing reputation.

Post-World War II, STIHL expanded rapidly, both in product offerings and global reach. By the 1950s and 1960s, the company had established itself across Europe and began exporting worldwide, establishing a strong presence in North America, South America, and Asia. As STIHL grew, it diversified its product line to include a wide range of garden tools like hedge trimmers, brush cutters, and lawnmowers, all built with the same focus on durability and performance.

STIHL has consistently been at the forefront of technological advancements in the industry. The company pioneered anti-vibration technology to improve user comfort and developed environmentally friendly engines like the 2-MIX and 4-MIX, which offer high power with reduced emissions. Responding to the growing demand for quieter and more eco-friendly tools, STIHL introduced a line of battery-powered equipment, catering to both professionals and homeowners.

Today, STIHL remains a global leader, known for its innovation, quality, and commitment to sustainability. The company’s rigorous quality control ensures every product meets high standards, while its focus on sustainable practices, such as using renewable energy and resource-efficient production, aligns with its environmental responsibilities. As STIHL continues to evolve, it remains dedicated to meeting the needs of its customers and maintaining the values that have driven its success for nearly a century.
