Spectrum TG46SE 3-in-1 Self-Propelled Petrol Lawnmower

If you’re maintaining a mid-sized garden – between 1500 and 1800m2 – with slopes and rough-grass areas to manage, the 46cm, self-propelled Spectrum TG46SE Petrol Lawnmower comes highly recommended!

As the mowing season progresses through spring, summer and autumn, the condition of your lawn will inevitably change – to help you deal with this, Spectrum have equipped the adaptable TG46SE with three cutting options – collection, side-eject and mulching. Switching between modes is quick and simple.

Making the Spectrum TG46SE 3-in-1 Self-Drive Petrol Lawnmower tick is a four-stroke overhead-valve engine that’s so efficient, it develops a muscular 3.7hp from a cylinder capacity of only 139cc. Torque output is seriously impressive, so you’ll have no trouble tackling thick, overgrown grass, even if it’s damp.

A steel mower deck means impact resistance and superior durability are assured; single-point height of cut adjustment ensures it couldn’t be simpler to make the necessary changes to the blade position relative to the wheels (the cutting-height range is from 25 to 75mm).

The class-leading features continue – you’ll also get extra-large, 250mm drive wheels – ball-bearing mounted for smoothness and durability – which put down the power without scuffing delicate lawns, while also optimising long-grass manoeuvrability; and an impressively spacious 60-litre grassbag, which will keep to a minimum the frequency of those tiresome, time-consuming trips to the compost heap.

The ergonomic, soft-grip handlebar on this machine is foldable for storage, and adjustable for comfort.

The Spectrum TG46SE boasts a lithium-battery-based, key ignition system, which makes getting started totally effort-free.

The starter battery and its charger are included, with the former featuring LED charge-level indicators, and the latter featuring a red ‘Charging’ light, which demonstrates the battery is properly in its charging slot.

It should be noted that Spectrum pedestrian lawnmowers and ride-on mowers are covered by an extended five-year manufacturer’s warranty for parts*.

* Ts & Cs apply – to maintain a valid warranty, the machine must be serviced annually from year two onwards

1 review for Spectrum TG46SE 3-in-1 Self-Propelled Petrol Lawnmower with Electric Start

  1. Ashley Reay

When you see a new Petrol mower advertised without a review you sometimes wonder. This machine had all the bells and whistles and was very well priced plus the weight and cut size suited me very well.
There are a few niggles, and one big moan. I will leave the good stuff until last.
The mower arrived in double quick time and was left where I asked it to be but no email or text to say it has been delivered. This should be done ..the niggle no one. The deck wash has the usual plastic port that you plug your hose into. All others I have used use a std ‘Hozelock’ nozzle. .Not this one and as luck would have it I had a box full of various nozzles but have no idea where they came from and there is no mention of the wash deck in the instructions. This needs to be fixed. That was niggle no two.
The big moan is the instructions are printed on a few white pages with black lettering and are APPALLING! There are a few diagrams in black and white that you cannot read and the whole booklet is an almost patronising effort that assumes all are lawn mower mechanics. This alone will cost the brand sales. I had to get a lawn mower mechanic in and he said that the construction was, at least ‘challenging’ The plastic cup holder and fitting is difficult, look cheap and are more than difficult to fit without proper instructions.
The good stuff. The mower started the first time, cuts like a dream and has excellent pick up into the box The detachable battery charger is also excellent and means you do not have to be next to a power point to charge up the machine (only need to do it rarely) The speed (it is self-propelled) is just about correct and on a flat surface you can dispense with this and simply push it along but you will need the power on slopes as the machine, although not that heavy, will be harder to push. I found the mower very frugal on fuel. An excellent point. The deck wash works well when you can get the hose attached.
So, am I pleased? Overall yes, as the mower cuts and collects very well which is the purpose of the purchase but disappointed that the instructions are so poor so (Manufacturer) take note and either fix this or get a video online showing how to assemble the machine.
